Stress can take a toll on the body and mind. Mindfulness can assist us by helping us learn to cope with stress, pain and the challenges of life. We can also learn to deal with unsettling events that occur with a sense of calm and composure. Additionally, being mindful helps us to be fully present and alive in the moment.
If you are looking for assistance in relieving your stress, join me for this live and recorded 8-week series "Mindfulness for Stress Relief." It is available as a live class and also as a recorded course.
In this 8-week series, we learn how mindfulness, body awareness and mindful movement can help us to understand and relieve the stress we experience.
As we progress, we will be developing a strong foundation of mindfulness to help us. Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as "the awareness that unfolds as we pay attention, on purpose, in the present moment." In a very real way, the present moment is the only time any of us has for perceiving, learning, growing, and healing. It is from the awareness born out of mindfulness that we have the chance to recognize and respond more proactively and effectively to the challenges and demands of everyday life.
This program is based on MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn but note that this is not an official MBSR course. We will be using many of the same and also similar practices as found in the official course.

Yoga Teachers: Upon completion of course, you are eligible to register for 5 hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education.

Deb Phelps is the founder of Peaceful Wellness Institute and is an experienced Meditation Teacher and Practitioner since 1980, in addition to being a certified Mindfulness Coach, Sound Energy Practitioner, and Yoga Specialist. She offers a unique approach to help clients overcome various challenges such as stress, anxiety, PTSD, and grief, enabling them to live purposeful and joy-filled lives. Having faced significant life obstacles herself, Deb relied on various mind-body-spirit practices to overcome them and find a life of contentment and equanimity. With extensive education and life experience, including living in a spiritual community for a year, Deb inspires and assists others in their pursuit of a fulfilling life.
